Fasting reduces the risk of cancer, research reveals a shocking fact

Cancer is one of the most dangerous diseases which is very difficult to treat. However, continuous research and new methods are being discovered to prevent it. Recently, a research has revealed that fasting can reduce the risk of cancer. A study by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center has revealed that fasting affects cancer cells. Let’s know about it..

Relation between fasting and cancer
This research conducted on mice found that fasting strengthens the body’s natural defense system. This increases the efficiency of natural killer cells, which attack cancer cells. During fasting, these cells use fat instead of sugar, which makes them capable of destroying cancer cells. This research also revealed that due to fasting, these cells can be produced even in the tumor environment and their ability to fight cancer increases.

Previous research and benefits
A 2012 study on mice found that short-term fasting can protect healthy cells from the side effects of chemotherapy. Another 2016 study also found that short-term fasting before chemotherapy can reduce toxicity. A study by the German Cancer Research Center found that intermittent fasting can reduce the risk of fatty liver, liver inflammation and liver cancer.

Effects on humans
Many doctors believe that fasting may help reduce the risk of cancer, but its effect depends on insulin levels and cellular reactions. Fasting may prevent a favorable environment for cancer cells by lowering insulin levels. Fasting may also activate processes that can kill pre-cancerous cells before they grow.

Other benefits of fasting
Fasting increases natural antioxidants in the body, which can protect cells from damage caused by cancer. However, this does not happen in every patient, so more research is needed on this. Especially for those patients who are already underweight.
